ooc'd: ...xD -loves posting at the forest-
ic'd: "....?"
Had anyone walked through the forest, they would not have noticed him. The only way they would have seen the boy, bent over in the grass, collecting plant leaves and berries, was if they were like him--crawling around, looking at everything in indiscriminant detail. But Matthias had no idea who else was in this strange, foreign world. He had seen a girl sitting on a massive black wolf the other day, but he was not sure whether or not she was a girl or some sort of nymph. After all, she seemed to be smiling too much to be any sort of human born in this age.
"....silly...." Matthias muttered to himself, stuffing the leaves into his pockets. If his calculations were correct, then these would make a poultice that would heal elementary scabs. Good thing I was studying medicine... Matthias thought grimly, picking at the bright green leaves. He knew it was true that he count not survive on brawn, since he was more lean than muscular, more skinny than built. It depressed him, but he knew he could outwit them all. or at least, I hope so...better not sound cocky... Matthias thought depressedly, letting himself lie in the ferns for a moment. what do brains do nowadays, anyway? They get you killed.
With a short grunt of effort, Matthias heaved himself to an upright standing positiong, looking up at the fading sky. "...sunset. Time to go?" Matthias sighed to no one in particular. He had seen a couple sunsets in his life when he lived in Spain, but usually he was in his house, carrying for Elia or avoiding the bullies who lived in his district. "But I've seen a lot of other sunsets, too..." Matthias muttered to himself gravely. He had spent quite some time in Echo, although he often lost track of the days. He had seen sunsets and sunrises every day as he searched for food and herbs. He knew he needed to find some sort of civilization--his basic instincts told him that--but Matthias was anti-social and quiet by nature, which prevented him from doing so. Whether it was a pro or a con, it was true.

Tainn was probably the most confused person on the face of the earth at the moment, poor girl. She was whisked away onto a plane on her way to America, but she ended up in some barren place. And as confused as she already was about the flying contraption she was shoved into, she was dropped in the middle of a forest. She didn't understand.. Well, to be honest, she doesn't really understand anything but animal behavior and Japanese.. and just a wee bit of English. Hours and hours went by since she was abandoned to a life on her own before she decided to actually go around and explore where she was.
With the forest so dense and muggy in the Spring, her hair felt sticky and was always somehow finding away to get on Tainn's nerves. She was always flipping it out of her way, or pushing it back behind her shoulders, often moaning as she finally got so frustrated with it that she decided to throw it up into a messy bun. Stopping in her tracks, she bent over so she was looking upside down. With a hair-tie ready, she quickly gathered her hair up and twisted the elastic around it until she got it tight enough for the bun. With that taken care of, she continued her exploration. As the girl walked, she noticed that this place was very similar to the forest she was always in back in Japan; knowing this even eased the tension and nervousness she felt, being in such a strange place all of the sudden.
Passing through some ferns, with her guard down, she fell over something crouched on the ground. With a shriek, she landed on her front. Quickly, she picked herself up from the ground and put her fits up, ready to fight if there was one coming. Glancing down, she saw what she had tripped over. It was a boy, and he looked about her age. What a silly thing to be on your knees like that, she thought to herself. She loosened her tense muscles so her arms were limp at her sides again. Pushing a stray hair out of the midst of her vision, her cheeks turned somewhat rosy. Who wouldn't be embarrassed if they had tripped over somebody that they had idiotically looked passed? She did feel a bit stupid, she had to admit. "I.. very sorry." She said in her strong Asian accent, and not in the very best of English.

It wasn't everyday you found Jayke in a forest, or outside of his room for that matter. He liked being alone, away from the torture and life outside of his own bedroom wall. He was a boy of secrets, and kept to himself. He hadn't really opened enough to anyone to have friends. His parents had taken him out of public school long ago. 1st grade he had been caught fighting a few boys. The school had wanted him to go to a special school, but his parents had refused and homeschooled him. Maybe it could have been better if he had actually gone to that special school. It wasn't like anything was wrong with him, he was just different. Maybe those teachers could have worked with him, and helped him make friends.
His parents had failed at schooling him. Jayke would lock himself up in his room, hiding away from his parents. He was scared of them, even though they loved him so much. He was really scared of everyone. He hadn't planned to be sucked out of that world, it had just happened. I guess you could say he was happy, but if you were a guy like Jakye, it's not that happy. He likes the quite sounds of the forest, that helps him calm down. But he is still extremely angry at everything. He isn't the best at making friends, but that could all very well change in the land of echo.
Am...I alone? The 17 year old boy called out, hoping with all his might that no one would reply. It was weird, because he wanted so much to be alone, and yet he still seeked that attention. He couldn't be happy, that was it. He would always be wanting more. This would make life hard for him, but he had never had it easy. He was always making things way harder than they needed to be, which made him used to whatever kind of hard life this world was going to throw at him.
His jeans were getting soaked with mud as he made his way through a forest. It was all woodland, nothing too unusual, but Jayke had traveled far in Echo, and he had learned never to relax. Echo could throw anything at you at any time. So he had it easy now, that didn't mean a centaur wasn't stalking him. Yes, he was a paranoid freak, but who could blame him? No one ever took the time to sit down and really talk to him. That might just be all he wanted, to be able to have a conversation with someone and maybe be a little friendly. It would be hard for him, he was such a shy boy. But if someone had the patience to talk to him, he would talk back.
He could hear voices now, and it was making him a little uneasy. He wasn't used to more than a few people at once. He had been used to, at the most, 3 voices. His mother, father, and baby sister, but that was only at dinner. It seemed that was the only meal of the day that Jayke had agreed to eat with his family. During lunch and breakfast he would sneak out of his room and grab his food and run back to the safety of his room. If his family tried to stop him, he would get angry. He frightened them so much, so maybe this world change was good for them too. They loved him so much that even he knew that they would be sad, but it didn't matter, he was doing his own thing now.
Hesitantly, he appeared before the others. He would look stunning, like he always did. It didn't matter that he had no care for how he looked, he still managed to look good. His eyes were a light green that lit up his face as much as he tried not to. He didn't like being the center of attention, and hopefully he wouldn't be. If he didn't talk, he would most likely be ignored, but the urge inside his belly was too much. He had to see if someone was willing to talk to him. So slowly, he turned to the two kids and spoke out loud. Hi, I'm Jayke.

....!"
Matthias straightened in surprise. A weight had suddenly made him fall over onto his side, and he quickly sat up. He was no fighter, but he could run, fast. He'd had practice from running away, being beaten up so many times...his mother had suggested the track team. At first, Matthias objected such a thing, but mother's eyes were so soft and brown and imploring that no one could refuse them.
What had tripped over him? An animal? No, silly, Matthias scolded himself. Not only was it too light to be an animal, it was simple fact that most animals did not walk, nor trip over boys for that matter. Matthias blinked, parting his long black bangs, to see a foreign girl...Asian, he could see by glance, Japanese if he looked longer...looking as sheepish as he felt himself. "...no, my fault." Matthias admitted, feeling shameful. It was his fault for looking so pathetic on his hands and knees, collecting berries and herbs for himself, completely unaware of his surroundings. No wonder people beat me up...I probably look like such an idiot. Matthias thought darkly. Even Bella, his own sister, had rebuked him for his strange ways, but the whole family shunned her for doing so. Her near-emancipation had not helped, either. Another voice...male, this time, Matthias could tell....entered his range of hearing. Matthias cocked his head and turned slowly. It was a boy, probably his age or a little older. He seemed like a handsome boy, although Matthias wouldn't have really cared, coming onto the scene more gracefully than he or the new girl had. He seemed a bit anti-social...probably not as much as me, Matthias, you shy little scoundrel... but he still spoke. Jayke? It seemed like a common enough name. "...I'm Matthias." he said simply, looking blankly into space, as he always did when talking to people. Although it was considered rude not to look someone in the eyes, it was a habit for him, and most people were used to it.

"No, my fault." Said the kid that she had tripped over. She placed her hands to her chest and slowly shook her head, taking the blame for not keeping an eye out for the unexpected. After all, this is the place you should be practicing to know everything going on around you.. right? Tainn took a few steps from where she landed toward the boy with unkept, black hair. But it was a nice unkept look, like it was intentionally like that. She just didn't understand that, though.. How someone would want there hair to look a it messy; it just wasn't the way she had been grown up into. Bending her torso over slightly, she offered a hand out to him. Helping him up was the least she could do for knocking him over.
Then out of no where, literally, appeared another boy. He seemed to look the same as the first, only different. Glancing from boy to boy with a confused expression, she thought they were related. "You brother?" She asked, quite stupidly. But before she got an answer, she got names. Jayke and Matthias. So they didn't know each other.. "Oh..." She said, now finally understanding the situation. They were all new here, having no idea why or what happened. "I'm Tainn." She said softly while mimicking the word "I'm" from the others, feeling obligated to speak of her name too, as she lifted her hand to fiddle with her necklace. She had already noticed that she was the shortest one here, and the boys were about the same height. She frowned a bit before remembering her fallen arrowcase, arrows, and bow.
Turning around she quickly snatched her arrowcase, picked up the arrows, and placed them inside before she swung the strap back onto her shoulder. Then she picked up her bow and let it hang in her hand as she turned back around to face them. Awkward silence, how lovely. "Why you here? Or you not know too?" Tainn said, almost hysterically incorrect in English. Dark brown lenses flickered back and forth between the two of them, waiting for an answer. She would be doing this a lot, asking questions, for she had a lot to learn still.. even if she was already seventeen.

It wasn't because he was different that he felt out of place, it was because he was simply in here at the wrong time. It was a bit awkward and unsettling, and Jayke would much rather be alone. But once again, he felt that craving for attention, or at least being in the presence of someone else. So, he stayed. He didn't need to be asked to leave, or to stay, he was going to stay. Sighing, the 17 year old boy stepped up to a woodland tree and began to rest his back on it. He let out a grunt as his aching muscles were finally to put to rest. He hadn't been able to rest all day, and the sun was well past noon. It would be dark in just a few short hours.
The possible ideas of shelter appealed to Jayke, but he didn't mind the open. He would welcome rain, or any kind of cold weather, he wasn't feeling up to this sun that was shining. It was too bright. Pursing his lips, Jayke slid to the floor, keeping his back against the tree as he thrust his legs out onto the forest floor. His eyes were growing heavy, but he felt like he had to get to know these people. They seemed friendly, but it was just Jayke's nature that made him seem unfriendly. The boy that he had first seen hadn't gotten on his bad side yet, he would have to do something first. It wouldn't take much though, it was very hard for Jayke to like.
The female seemed interesting enough, she had caught Jayke's eye. She was not from anywhere near the US, he could see that. Cocking his head, he wondered how someone like her and him had managed to end up in the same place. But than again, she could have been visiting the US, maybe near his home town. The US wasn't that lovely, but maybe from Asians thought the US was interesting. Jayke thought Asia was interesting, so why couldn't they think the US was interesting. He would have asked her himself instead of assuming, but he was too shy and stubborn to let go of his past and relax. So he blankly stared around him.
What is this place?... He didn't really expect a good answer from the two people, they looked as confused as he did, but maybe they had been here a bit longer than he had.
