Matthias was panting.

He had been running all day, trying to work out. He often failed at push-ups, pull-ups, crunches, and the like, but his whole body seemed to delight in running. Perhaps it reminded him of home, where he would run from getting beat up, or running for track. Well...the former didn't happen anymore, he supposed. He had grown up too much, and even though he never really fought back against his assailants, they noticed how strong he was getting. Matthias was confused by this. He didn't consider himself strong...just smart, and maybe fast. It was good enough for him.

Matthias flopped down onto the dry flowerbeds, letting himself stare at the clouds above. Back in Italy, he would often sit on the rooftops and do the same thing. He supposed it was too sentimental for a boy his age--most seventeen year olds had stopped doing it--but Matthias considered it calming. His English-speaking district was notorious for its crime and drug rate, and he found it more safe ten stories in the air on top of an old apartment building than on the ground. Or perhaps, it was because he was never really afraid of heights...

The boy's muscles ached. He had spent the whole day running circles around the field as he did every day, trying to get back into shape. But my skin is still pale, Matthias thought with a sigh, it looks like genetics have it against me. I'll never tan. And when he wasn't running, he was collecting herbs in case he fell ill or someone else did. Although it was true that none of them had personally asked for them, Matthias had no grudges...they could use them when they needed them.

Stupid Mattes! he thought to himself darkly as he rolled over onto his stomach, viewing the gorgeous array of flowers that Echo offered, you still hate talking to people, yet you need to to survive. Stupid anti-social Mattes.

The only person he could have conversations with was the ever-travelling Koneko, with her strange smile. Matthias was sure she wasn't a nymph anymore, and he guessed he was friends with her, but only because she was so heartbreakingly charismatic to him that he felt uncomfortable NOT talking to her. But Koneko always travelled with that massive black wolf, and left to see God knew who. Matthias had no one to see, unless he wanted to see those people he saw earlier, and he did not know if his presence was even welcome.[/color]

Another night alone. Tainn was beginning to think that she had to become more friendly, outgoing and the like. Everything that she wasn't. She kept trying to convince herself into being a bit more chatty, but she just never gets herself. She always blames it on her English, how she can't hold a simple conversation for very long without asking a question or something of the sort. It was beginning to pile up onto her shoulders, she was pressuring herself for no reason. So all she had met were of the opposite gender so far, and she wondered if that's all there ever was here. Hoping it wasn't, she continued to forage for some fruit in some of the bushes nearby the fields of flowers and such.

She was here before, she remembered. Tainn had fallen asleep, then woke up and found herself a boy. It wasn't really anything special, but she made a conscious effort to try to make friends. With a sigh, she bit into a fruit that looked familiar to her; and quite frankly, it was! It was a normal raspberry. Grabbing a bunch of the small berries, she threw them into the small pocket attached to her arrowcase, saving them for later. She need not to stuff her face now. Swinging her arrowcase back around her shoulders, she looked up to see yet another boy. This one was on the ground, staring at the clouds.

But this wasn't a new one, but a kid she had met before. "Matthias." She said to herself, but barely audible for him to here. Lifting herself from her knees, she made her way through the flowers to where he was sitting. "...Hi." She said, hopefully not startling him. Although she was known to be silent as a mouse, sometimes she could be just as klutzy. She, herself, placed herself on the ground, sitting with her legs crossed. Conversation was certainly not one of her strong points, but at least she tried. "You run?" She asked, remarking his light panting.
