Life's an Earthquake

Twilight was verging over head as the girl journeyed deeper into the unfamiliar wildnerness. The sounds of nature filled her ears and she felt alive as she skipped over rocks and grass as she made her way through the forests and fields. Along herside ran the young deer that she knew as Willa; the deer's long limbs were perfect for this kind of play. Laughing loudly enough to echo through this world's mountain tops, the girl by the name of Brianna moved forward swiftly and quickly, it was starting to turn a bit chilly. Willa didn't seem to mind, which made Brie relax a tad bit; she'd feel terrible if her family figure was hurting. It was true, she felt motherly too her young fawn, and she was incharge of looking out for the yearling. She would help it get the supplies she needed to grow strong, and in return hopefully she would get the love Brie had been seeking ever since she had left Aiden.
Journeying through unfamiliar land was definitely not the brightest idea. The land was turning rugged, so before Brie could leave the soft springy grass, she had to satisfy her urge. So taking a running leap, she cartwheeled through the grass, tumbled into a backhand spring, and ended with a back flip. Sticking the landing, Brie popped back up and shot out her right hand in one of her old cheer moves, "Kasha!" She shouted, a huge smile smeared on her face as she laughed out her last giggles. Feeling accomplished now, she finally set her task to the rugged terrain ahead. Willa by her side, they slowly made their way through the icey lands. It wasn't long even before the ground was completely covered with a light layer of snow. Turning her head to the sky, she cursed loudly and heavily as she realized that a dark sky meant more snow was to come. Rubbing her deer's anxious body, she sighed in regret and pushed forward. Suddenly her great idea of going on an adventure didn't seem like that much fun. But being Brie, once she had her mind set on something; there was no going back.
With the trees growing heavier, and the rocks coming less and less often; Brie knew they were currently going through a forest. The evergreens that currently surrounded them had long, heavy branches that were packed with snow. Brianna felt her heart aching to the ancient trees, from afar they looked so sad and gloomy with their branches being welded down by the unwanted weather. Frowning, Brie patted Willa on the head and walked through the ancient forest with a gloomy feeling rolling off her back. The steps she took were small, and her feet sunk a few inches into the layers of snow on the ground. The light blanket had grown into a heavy duty mattress and Brie silently thanked god for having packed a pair of snow shoes. The reason she had a pair in her car when she landed in Echo was because she had been packing for an upcoming backpacking trip and so she had begun putting her camping gear in the car. Brianna really didn't realize how lucky she really was.
As the first snow fall hit her face, she found herself glad rather than worried; it was the first snow fall she had seen since she was a little girl, and it made her want to run. Rejoicing, she kicked forward and chased her deer through the trees. Her feet were flying across the ground as her Willa thundered next to her; a smile was across her lips as her speed increased, and she felt her heart race along her chest as she sprinted forward. It was really like a winter wonderland as she flew, the trees silent and blinding with their dark outline of all the wrinkles of their years. Smiling still, Brianna ran forward, winding through the younger willows as she peeked out from the older evergreens. It wasn't too long before the trees had disappeared all together. Taking in a calming breath, Brianna took in her surroundings.
She was surrounded in snow, the landscape was beautiful. The mountains surrounded her in the cascades but the valley floor was open for the world. Letting out a chocked back laugh of shock, Brie realized this was hers. No one was here, this was her land. Pursing her lips in a sly little smile, Brianna did a front hand spring in pure joy before running up a slopped climb so she could really see what was before her. Running her hand through her loose hair, she took in the sea water that was peeked just beyond the silent willow that stood soluted against the white landscape. Brie pursured the sea, until she reached it. Looking down into the water, she found life all around her. Peeking out from her point in the snow, she spotted a young polar bear fishing gracefully in the water. Watching in awe until another site caught her eye, she quickly turned her attention to a breaching killer whale. "Ahh.." She breathed, the grace and beauty whiping her off her own feet. Landing in the snow, she continued to watch the whales as Willa appeared behind her. Brie said a quick 'hello' to her deer as Willa sat down next to her. Turning her attention back to the whales, she watched again as this time a narwhal appeared before her eyes. That's what I want.. She whispered. The whales would be hers. The Polar Bear would be hers. Squinting her eyes, Brie stood up and raised her hands to the sky, "You hear that?! This is my land now! NOT yours." She was talking to anyone; anyone who wasn't Willa. Any human that was passing by would hear her screech to the world, who wouldn't? Her words were echoing through the cascades.
Turning back to the two whales that were intrigued by the idea of a new scent. They approached Brie without fear and Brie felt the same towards them; slowly, she approached the submerged whales that were waiting for her at the side of the sea, and placed her hands upon their heads. "It's my job now protect you" The orca whale clucked his call to her, and Brie giggled in reply, "You're silly; you're like my little Demon." So that's what she decided to call the killer whale. Orca meant, "Killer of the seas" in Greek. Smiling, she rubbed her hand against the whales slippery snout before letting him retreat back to the water. Now turning her attention to the narwal that was clearly spying her, she smiled and placed her hand around the long beam that stuck out from his melon. "Hello Beautiful; your mine as I am yours, Arie will be your name." Her thoughts were finally coming into place, and she knew that she was queen here. She could just feel it. From now on, she lived here; and this was how she came to own the top of the world. The ice princess as some would call it.
